BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A Mountain Home couple was arrested this week after police caught them selling methamphetamine.
A person working with the Baxter County Sheriff's Department bought drugs from Jerry Lee Brown, 47, and Rebecca Jeneane Brown, 46, according to a press release from Sheriff John Montgomery.
The first transaction happened on Nov. 4 when the informant bought around 1.2 grams of meth from the couple for $50.
The second buy was later the same day when the informant bought an additional .9 grams of meth for $50.
According to Sheriff Montgomery, the couple used a cell phone to set up the drug sales and they took place near an elementary school.
Jerry and Rebecca Brown were both arrested Thursday and taken to the Baxter County Detention Center.
They were both charged with felonies for delivery of methamphetamine and unlawful use of a communications device.
The sheriff's department is seeking a penalty enhancement for drug distribution near a school.
They are both being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond and will appear in circuit court on Jan. 7.
The 14th Judicial Drug Task Force assisted the Baxter County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division with the investigation and arrest.
