MSHP: Deadly crash the result of lane change

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) -

Troopers in Missouri state a man died following a crash in Butler County Sunday morning.

Dossie Sanders, 37, of Springfield, IL was killed in the crash according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The crash happened on U.S. 67 just 5 miles north of Poplar Bluff around 6:17 a.m.

According to the report, a 1998 Chevrolet Express van driven by Lavon Greer of Springfield, IL was headed south and changed lanes into the path of a 2010 Dodge Ram driven by Austin Birmingham of Silva, MO.

The truck hit the van in the rear and both went off the right side of the road.

The van overturned and Sanders was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Birmingham was listed as having minor injuries and was taken to a Poplar Bluff hospital by private vehicle.

Sanders and Birmingham were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash the report stated. Greer was wearing a seat belt.

This is the 63 fatal crash for MSHP Troop E in 2015.
