BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

One man is behind bars and police are searching for another after a robbery in Blytheville Monday.

Officers responded to The New York Store, 216 W. Main St., around 12 p.m. for a robbery.

According to Captain Scott Adams with the Blytheville Police Department, officers were told a customer had her purse out to pay for an item when a man grabbed it and ran out of the store.

An employee attempted to stop the suspects as they ran out, but was knocked to the ground.

Dispatch told officers the men were running west toward Farmer’s Bank.

Officers saw the men running west in an alley when they separated.

Police followed one suspect who ran into a house in the 900-block of West Ash Street.

After a brief standoff, according to the news release, a person in the house opened the door and told officers the suspect was in the back of the house trying to find a way out.

Police found and arrested 19-year-old Corey Nelms.

Nelms then told police the other suspect was 18-year-old Raymond Johnson.

Police were not able to find Johnson, but warrants are being issued for his arrest.

If you have any information about where he is, call the Blytheville Police Department at 870-763-4411.
