JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - While a former A-State basketball coach and his wife slept, police say someone entered their home and stole his wallet and ring.
Coach Nelson Catalina's wife, Vanita, reported the theft at 9:52 a.m. Monday.
She said sometime between Sunday night and early Monday morning, someone had entered their home in the 2900-block of Ridgepointe Dr.
Catalina said the suspect entered through the garage door, which had been "partially open for ventilation."
The thief then entered through an unlocked door from the garage into the house while she and her husband were asleep.
Catalina said the only items taken from the house were her husband's wallet, cellphone, and a ring, valued at $3,500.
She said the crook also stole three pairs of muck boots from the garage.
There are no suspects at this time.
Nelson Catalina was inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2010 for guiding Arkansas State University's basketball program to four 20-win seasons along with four post-season appearances.
