Local Pre-K center preparing to move into new school

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A lot of preparation went into getting a new Pre-K facility ready for class time.

The Jonesboro Public School School District's Pre-K North will move into their new school on East Johnson Avenue on Monday, Jan. 4.

Director Diane Roush said teachers and staff went over traffic flow, fire and active shooter plans.

Roush said the school will include a drama and music class that the kids can enjoy.

Four-year-old Kamille Varner is a current student.

On Tuesday, Varner stepped foot in the building she will soon call her new school home for the first time.

She said it is "awesome."

“Jonesboro Pre-K is the best Jonesboro Pre-K in the world,” Varner said.

Roush said they will open with four classrooms full of kids and has room for more.

“We have 13 openings for a fifth classroom,” Roush said.

Teachers are finishing moving their supplies into their classrooms this week.

Roush said they’ll return from Christmas break with an exciting new chapter.
