LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A Lawrence County man was sentenced to 60 years in prison for molesting two young girls.

Raymond Paul Chapman, 53, of Hoxie pleaded guilty Wednesday to three counts of sexual assault in the second degree in Lawrence County Circuit Court.

The charges arose from a report to the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Unit in June 2015 alleging Chapman had sexually assaulted two children, said Henry Boyce, prosecuting attorney for the Third Judicial District.

According to court documents, the children were 6 and 8 years old at the time of the assaults.

When confronted by Hoxie Chief of Police Glen Smith, Boyce said Chapman “admitted to the abuse and was taken into custody.”

He is currently awaiting transfer to the Arkansas Department of Correction.
