JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Jonesboro police say a man arrested for shoplifting had more than enough money in his pockets to pay for the stolen items.

Eugene Howard, 43, of Jonesboro is charged with theft $1,000 or less-all others.

He is accused of concealing several pairs of jeans and underwear, valued at $435, and walking out of Dillard’s, 3000 E. Highland.

Corporal Jason Chester arrested Howard and took him to the Craighead County Detention Center.

A jailer who searched Howard found $3,600 in cash in his wallet, Chester stated in his incident report.

Howard was left at the CCDC to await a probable cause hearing.
