New Orleans Bowl Director: What to do in NOLA

NEW ORLEANS (KAIT) - New Orleans Bowl Director Billy Ferrante tells fans there is plenty to do in New Orleans as they head down to watch the game.

Ferrante said there are several attractions for fans of all ages.

He told Region 8 News a must for visitors is walk around Bourbon Street and the French Quarter to get a feel for the city. People can enjoy music on the streets since there is a jazz band on about every corner.

People can also take a the street cars ride to see some of these busy streets.

Ferrante also suggests trying as many restaurants as possible. He said New Orleans has some of the best Cajun cuisine and seafood around.

Some of the major attractions in the city include the Aquarium of the Americas, Insectarium and the new World War II museum.

Ferrante said the best part of New Orleans is that there is so much to do in just a few blocks.

"The appeal to the city of New Orleans for these big events is that everything a fan could want is within a half to three quarter mile radius," Ferrante said.

There is also a few events the New Orleans Bowl is putting on for fans this year.

Friday there will be a raceway at the Superdome and then a free concert following at Champion Square.

REO Speedwagon and Big Sam's Funky Nation will headline the concert at 7 p.m.

There is also a cheerleading clinic during the day Saturday and those who participate will perform at halftime.

The "Dashing through the Dome" race will also be held on Saturday.

Ferrante said the most important thing for fans this weekend is to enjoy the game and the city.

"Come, have fun, and enjoy our city. That is really what we are all about," Ferrante said.
