JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Jonesboro woman faces aggravated assault charges after police say she threatened another woman with a sword.

Just before 3 a.m. Friday officers responded to a disturbance with weapons call at an apartment in the 3700-block of Caraway Road.

According to the incident report, 20-year-old Caitlyn S. McDaniel had argued with a woman who had given a ride home to the father of McDaniel’s unborn baby.

At one point during the argument, McDaniel went back into her apartment and came out with a sword.

Police say McDaniel then swung the sword at the other woman’s car, hitting it twice and breaking the sword’s handle, before the man stepped in and broke up the fight.

When questioned by officers, McDaniel reportedly said she was “not trying to hurt” the other woman.

She then reportedly apologized and said she did not want to go to jail.

Officers arrested her and took her to the Craighead County Detention Center on a charge of aggravated assault to await a probable cause hearing.

Police collected the sword as evidence.
