POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) -

The Poplar Bluff R-1 Board of Education hired Scott Dill to serve as its new superintendent.

A public educator with 20 years of experience, Dill has served as superintendent of Houston (MO) Schools since 2012. Prior to that, he served as the district’s middle school principal.

He is completing his dissertation toward a doctorate in educational leadership from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, where he also received his master’s in educational administration and a specialist degree. He earned his bachelor’s in teaching from Missouri State University in Springfield.

“I am both honored and humbled to have been selected,” Dill said. “I eagerly anticipate the challenges and opportunities inherent to this position.”

Dill will assume his duties on July 1.

He succeeds Chris Hon who announced his retirement in 2014.
