Jonesboro parents arrested for smoking pot around child

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Jonesboro police cited two residents Thursday after the couple were caught allegedly smoking pot in their house with their child inside.

According to the incident report, officers approached an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Turner Avenue in regards to a child welfare call.

The report stated officers could smell marijuana outside of the home.

One officer knocked on the door and got no reply.

He then walked to the back door and noticed a young girl sitting in front of a television.

The officer then knocked louder and again got no response.

He returned to the front door and saw lights come on in the window.

A short time later, someone answered at the back door.

Police spoke to the residents David Wilson, 39, and Jessica Wilson, 29, both of Jonesboro.

David Wilson told JPD he and Jessica Wilson had smoked pot two hours earlier.

He also admitted he had flushed the remaining marijuana down the toilet and told the officers that is why he took so long to answer the door.

The report stated officers found a seed and a stem of what appeared to be marijuana next to the toilet in the master bathroom.

The officers on scene contacted the Department of Human Services who stated they would visit the home Dec. 18.

David and Jessica Wilson were both cited for endangering the welfare of a minor in the third degree.

They were given a court date of Jan. 13.
