Kennett police arrest man for sexual assault

KENNETT, MO (KAIT) - Kennett officers arrested a man on a sexual assault charge following a "large fight" Friday night.

According to a news release posted on the Kennett Police Department's Facebook page, officers were dispatched to a house in the 400-block of Beaton Street for a "large fight in progress" around 5 p.m.

After investigating, officers arrested Christopher Hampton, 22, of Kennett for first degree burglary and sexual assault.

Hampton was taken to the Dunklin County Justice Center and placed on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of formal charges with the Dunklin County Prosecutor's Office.

Police said the investigation is still ongoing and officer are looking for another person involved in the incident.

That person's name has not been released yet.
