Family, friends gather to honor loved one shot to death

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A candlelight vigil was held for a Jonesboro woman killed in a home invasion.

On Sunday, Dec. 20, 24-year-old Kayla Vinson's family and friends gathered at 401 2nd Street in Jonesboro to reflect on her life.

Candles were lit, teddy bears were placed on the porch, and balloons were set free in honor of Vinson.

"We love you Kayla," said her best friend. "God knows I'm going to miss your smile. I'm going to miss how when I'm mad you are there to make me happy. She was a goofy person and I'm going to miss that a lot."

According to Jonesboro police, Vinson was dead when officers arrived at the house last Thursday morning.

The other victim, 28-year-old Donald J Versey, was injured.

Versey told police two armed men forced their way inside demanding money before he and Vinson were shot.

Anyone with information about this murder is urged to contact Crimestoppers at 935-STOP or the Jonesboro Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division at 870-935-6710.
