NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) - Soldiers from the 39th Infantry Brigade could be heading to Kosovo for a NATO mission.
The headquarters of the Arkansas Army National Guard's 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team received a Notification of Sourcing Tuesday to support a year-long mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo.
The possible deployment is tentatively scheduled for the spring of 2017.
The team, according to a news release from Lt. Col. Joel Lynch, would "provide command and control for Multinational Battle Group-East in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Pristina, Kosovo, part of NATO's Kosovo Force.
Approximately 130 Arkansas National Guard soldiers from around the state received notification of the possible deployment.
"A Notification of Sourcing is not an alert or a mobilization order," Lynch said. "It does not necessarily mean a unit will deploy."
Instead, he said it means a unit "is being looked at for a potential deployment. It could be changed or canceled at any time."
