JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Jonesboro man lead police on a chase after an officer approached him at a "known drug apartment," according to a police report.

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 26, an officer parked his patrol car west of the apartment complex, located in the 900-block of Warner Avenue, to observe people at the apartment.

The report stated the officer saw Wesley Bentley, 25, of Trumann exit the apartment and look around as if he was waiting for someone.

The officer then approached Bentley and asked him to take his hand out of his pockets. That is when Bentley ran.

The officer demanded Bentley stop and remove his hands from his pockets or he would be tased.

According to the report, that is when the officer noticed him throw several items over a privacy fence as he continued to run.

The officer deployed his taser and hit Bentley in the back. The report said he had to be tased twice so police could make the arrest.

Police retrieved a lighter, cell phone, a glass methamphetamine pipe with residue in it and a large bag of marijuana along with suspected methamphetamine and a mixture of pills from behind the fence.

Police took Bentley to the Craighead County Detention Center on a misdemeanor drug charge and several felony drug charges, according to the report.

Bentley also faces a misdemeanor fleeing charge.
