BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

A Blytheville was in court Monday facing charges of stealing almost $8,000 from a local store.

The Blytheville Police Department was contacted on Dec. 17 in reference to an ongoing internal investigation at Lowe's Home Improvement, located at 3790 East Main Street.

According to a news release from Captain Scott Adams with the Blytheville Police Department, officers talked to a loss-prevention manager who gave them information about an investigation that he had been conducting.

The manager said he had tracked down 31 separate transactions that had happened since Aug. 2015 which were fraudulent.

The manager completed an affidavit that alleges the general manager of Lowe's, Antonio Sellers, had falsified cash-refund payouts that resulted in the loss of $7,999.16.

The complainant provided police with video surveillance, copies of receipts and a written confession from Sellers, according to the release.

The affidavit and evidence was presented to the prosecutor, who approved the affidavit.

Sellers surrendered to police and was later released on his own recognizance.

He appeared in court Monday for a probable cause hearing, where he was then bound over to circuit court.

He will appear in court again on Jan. 27.
