BAY, AR (KAIT) - Services will go on at Bay United Methodist Church this weekend, albeit in a different area of the church.
A longtime parishioner, Terri Craft, told Region 8 News that volunteers have been working several days to clean ceiling tiles and paint the walls of their fellowship hall, which sustained smoke damage in a fire Dec. 28.
Craft said services will be moved from the sanctuary to the fellowship hall at normal time. The sanctuary sustained fire and water damage.
Thursday, volunteers and church members continued to clean up.
Pastor Donald Lewert said the electricity flickered several times before Monday's fire.
Some firefighters who worked to put out the blaze also attend the church.
Lewert said the building's roof will need to be replaced and he's thankful the building is not a complete loss.
