Suspects take food from local church kitchen

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A Craighead County church got some unwanted visitors New Year’s Day.

Suspects broke in through a side door of Oak Grove Baptist Church on Highway 349.

Pastor Wynndel King told police he did not notice anything missing, except possibly some food and beverages in the old kitchen refrigerator.

King said the suspects broke in and pulled out all the pantry doors and went through the refrigerator.

He told Region 8 News there is no reason for someone to steal from the church.

“I would say if anyone needed food this church would certainly give them food," King said. "We have always helped people and given a lot of money to people like that.”

King has been the pastor at Oak Grove Baptist Church for 27 years. He said it has been several years since someone stole from him, but since the church is located on a highway, it is not entirely uncommon.
