Jonesboro pastor featured on popular game show

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Jonesboro pastor was granted a gift from his church that he will never forget.

Pastor Rick McKinney of Highland Drive Baptist Church in Jonesboro received a trip to Los Angeles, CA from the congregation.

While visiting the city, McKinney wanted to fulfill a childhood dream to be on "The Price is Right" game show.

McKinney and his wife got tickets to see the show. Little did he know what would happen next.

McKinney was selected as 1 of 9 contestants.

After winning a bid, he played a game that won him a free trip to Rome.

McKinney said the experience was surreal and he only has the church to thank.

“This church is great,” McKinney said. “They never cease to amaze me how they support me. That gift was totally unexpected. I had no clue.”

The episode aired Monday, Dec. 28.

McKinney does not know when he will take off to Rome but it will be sometime this year.

He said Drew Carey gave him recommendations on popular restaurants to visit while he's in Italy.
