Mayor gives advice to towns fighting for armories
After the National Guard looked into closing the Walnut Ridge armory, the mayor fought to save it.
Now he is offering advice to other towns facing the same situation.
Charles Snapp said the armory has a $4 million a year economic impact on Lawrence County.
Because of its centralized location, he said it only made sense to keep it open.
Snapp encourages other towns in the state that are fighting to save their local armory to be prepared to present their case in a factual manner.

"Get the facts together about the armory in that location, Snapp said. Sit down with the Guard board and explain your case with all heartfelt compassion you can.

Snapp added that having as much local support rallied together could possibly help a town make the cut.
