Incentives given to those seeking occupational therapy jobs

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A few Region 8 businesses are giving incentives to those seeking occupational therapy jobs.

For several years there has been a shortage of occupational therapists in the state of Arkansas.

Miracle Kids Success Academy in Jonesboro along with Kids Unlimited Locations are offering signing bonuses to people seeking these positions.

“There are a lot of companies that seek to be competitive in the hiring process so that we can gain the employees we need in order to help our children,” Andrea Brown with Miracle Kids Academy said.

Along with the employer incentives, the state is opening up more OT programs.

Arkansas State University opened the first class of occupational therapy doctorate students along with occupational therapy assistant programs.

Brown said the job is very rewarding and encourages people to apply.

“The impact that we made here has stayed with them throughout their school and on into adulthood,” Brown said.

Miracle Kids Academy helps kids develop several motor skills through activities like swings, zip lining, climbing and much more.
