POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) - Finishing touches are being put on the new Aquatic Center in Pocahontas.
Officials hope to hold a grand opening for the multi-million dollar facility soon.
The center was made possible through two half cent sales tax increases that were passed in a special election in 2013.
Director of the center Sarah Dunlap said they are still waiting on a few things to come in to make the center 100 percent ready.
"Most of it is just getting products in, putting them up, stationing everything," Dunlap said. "A lot of the pools indoor-wise is done. Outdoor maintenance is still putting together pumps and do some finishing touches on that."
The pool will get it's first use Thursday when Pocahontas' swim team will use it for a meet.
Dunlap said later they'll plan for a soft opening and then a grand opening.
