Blytheville suspect arrested in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Several law enforcement agencies teamed up to arrest a Blytheville suspect in Jonesboro.

According to Jonesboro police, Xavier Canada, 26, was arrested at the Cedar Park apartments in North Jonesboro at around 11:15 p.m.

Police said he was nearly captured earlier on Thursday in Little Rock, but he escaped to Jonesboro.

They said he was considered armed and dangerous.

JPD, parole and probation and members of the SWAT team worked on the arrest.

According to the Craighead County Sheriff's Office website, he was booked at around 11:45 p.m. on charges for parole violation, failure to register and public service work.

This isn't Canada's first run in with the law.

On July 2014, he was on Crimestoppers for 11 non-payment of fines and one failure to appear warrants.

U.S. Marshals arrested him on August 2014 in Atlanta, GA.

One year later, Captain Scott Adams with Blytheville police said they were searching for Xavier Canada.

Captain Adams said he was one of the suspects in Operation Blynd Justus in Blytheville back in August 2015.

An earlier version of this story misstated the allegations against Mr. Xavier Canada. KAIT regrets the error.
