GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A new faith house is coming to John 3:16 Ministries and Greene County men will call it home.
John 3:16 Ministries is a faith-based rehab program in Charlotte for men battling addiction.
The large camp has county houses that house men from Craighead, Baxter, Stone, Lawrence, Randolph, and other Arkansas counties.
Once Holly Burnett's brother, Adam Acuff, became a resident at John 3:16, she realized there was a need for a Greene County Faith House at John 3:16.
Acuff became addicted to prescription drugs after a car and motorcycle accident and a number of surgeries. He stays in the Craighead County Faith Home now and said having a support group is key to recovery.
"It lets you build new relationships, good relationships. Lets families who've been through the same thing in the same community come together and it gives you accountability when you come out," Acuff said.
Burnett visits John 3:16 Ministries and her brother often and said she wants to help families like hers.
"We want to bring awareness to Greene County, any family member or anyone suffering with someone with addiction to know about this place," Burnett said.
Burnett and Acuff teamed up with John 3:16 along with law enforcement and others in the Greene County community to make this dream home happen.
It costs $98,000 to build the home. They have already raised $14,000 with 2 room sponsorships.
Acuff said he is ready to help others see a new life after addiction.
"Become a blessing to the community instead of a burden," Acuff said. "I'm just ready. We work 6-days a week out there on camp so we will build the house, actually."
Burnett said they hope to have the home built and men using it this year.
