Woodrow Wilson Elementary School gets buddy bench

GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Students at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School enjoyed a new buddy bench at the playground Monday morning.

Dustin Rumsey with Pay it Forward Paragould donated the bench to the school Monday morning.

The bench was sponsored by a friend of Dustin’s in honor of her children who attended the school.

“What I hope happens is if a kid goes to school and feels left out or doesn’t have anywhere to go, they’ll know to come here,” Rumsey said. “That tells everybody else they’re looking for someone to play with and they want a buddy.”

Principal Jerry Dickson said he thinks it’s a great idea.

“We have a lot of students that come in throughout the year,” Dickson said. “It’s hard for students to come in the middle of the year and they don’t really know a lot of people. This will help them establish friends and make them feel more welcome.”

Rumsey said all schools in Greene County will eventually get buddy benches.
