WILSON, AR (KAIT) - The city of Wilson swore in two police officers Jan. 4 making it the first ever police force in the town.

Mayor Becton Bell said they concluded in August that it would be best for the town after having revitalization changes.

He said with new businesses and houses coming in, that it would be a step in the right direction.

Bell discussed it with Mississippi County Sheriff Dale Cook who he said agreed it would be a great addition to the town.

Jan Partain is a Wilson resident and said she could not be more excited for this new chapter.

"We are a very vibrant and growing and close knit community," Partain said. "This is a service we've needed for quite a while. So, we are really thrilled to see it fulfilled."

The city also got two patrol cars.

The officers sworn in are Chief Curt Chandler and Jeff Rumbaugh.
