Poplar Bluff Honors Their Champions

Poplar Bluff, MO -- The city of Poplar Bluff said congratulations on a job well done to Missouri's top high school basketball team.

"We beat Vashon, that's awesome," said one student.

"I went to every game possible, even the state tournament. It was rough, the first game, I wasn't sure if we would pull it out but the second game was better," said another student.

For the second year in a row, the Poplar Bluff Mules brought home a state championship trophy--this time, beating St. Louis Vashon on Saturday night.

Students say it was a night they won't forget.

"I love being apart of the fans--cheering the whole way through it. It was so much fun. The games are so much fun.....we dress up with paint.....it's just so fun," said one excited fan.

This group already has high hopes for the 2006 season.

For now, they are enjoying the thrill of this year's victory.
