TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) - Several Trumann churches are participating in a national event that helps tackle hunger in their community.
The Souper Bowl of Caring event will allow local church youth groups to buy canned goods for Trumann's Stepping Stone Sanctuary Food Pantry.
The kids will wrap the cans in dollar bills.
Pastor Jeff Weaver with First United Methodist Church in Trumann said one youth group will be the lucky winner.
"Bring it in on super bowl Sunday between 1p.m. and 3 p.m. and we will have an official weigh in," Weaver said. "Whatever youth group brings in the most food will get a pizza party."
Weaver said he is proud of all the kids that are volunteering their time and money to help those in need.
The cans will be weighed Sunday, Feb. 7.
Weaver said they will then be distributed to hungry families in the community.
