Batesville man faces negligent homicide

INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A Batesville man is charged with negligent homicide after a one-vehicle wreck four months ago.

According to the affidavit, 39-year-old Sammy Dortch Jr. was test driving a Chevy Camero when he went off the road and crashed into a ditch.

The incident happen on Vista Pointe Road in Independence County.

A passenger, 33-year-old Matthew Anderson died in the crash.

Dortch's blood sample showed he was over the legal limit for alcohol. His alcohol level was at 0.139 percent.

According to the report, Dortch told deputies he had three beers before driving.
