BIC millage proposal passes after third attempt

MONETTE, AR (KAIT) -

The Buffalo Island Central School District’s millage proposal has passed after a third vote for the district.

It passed with 669 votes for and 434 votes against.

The school board removed the plans for a new auditorium after residents voted against the last proposal.

Superintendent Gaylon Taylor said the new millage will now be 7 mills instead of 9.

They did keep the plans for new schools in Leachville and Monette.

The new Kindergarten to 6th grade building in Leachville and 7th grade to 12th grade building in Monette are still a part of the plans.
