POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) - Poplar Bluff police arrested two men they say robbed a taxi driver at gunpoint.
The holdup happened around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 800-block of Grand Avenue.
The victim told police when he arrived at the location to pick up his fares, one of the suspects pointed a gun at him while the other stole his money and cell phone.
The two robbers then ran away while he called police.
When officers arrived, they reportedly saw one of the suspects, later identified as 23-year-old Cardin M. Leech of Caruthersville, running through neighboring yards and began to chase him.
During the chase, according to a news release from the Poplar Bluff Police Department, they saw Leech throw the victim's cell phone.
While officers were chasing Leech, another set of officers found the second suspect, 18-year-old Larry L. Carter of Poplar Bluff, hiding on the back porch of an abandoned house. Police said Carter had the victim's stolen cash.
Police arrested both suspects and took them to the Butler County Justice Center on charges of first-degree robbery, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.
