JPD to offer Hispanic outreach program

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Police Department wants to make sure all citizens are heard; including those who may speak a different language.

In February, the department will launch its "Mi Amigo el Policia" outreach program, according to an email from Paul Holmes, the department's public information specialist.

The program is designed to provide members of the Hispanic community who have questions or concerns to speak privately with Sgt. Cassie Brandon, community outreach and recruiting coordinator for the police department.

The first session will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Hispanic Community Services Inc. (HCSI), 311 W. Huntington Ave. Subsequent sessions will be held the first and third Wednesdays of each month.

The program is believed to be the only one of its kind in Arkansas, said Leo Braslavsky of HSCI.
