MELBOURNE, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 teacher not only lost her job she now faces dozens of charges after investigators say she threw an alcohol-fueled party for her underage students.
Izard County sheriff's deputies arrested Mallory Dawn Rorie, 27, of Horseshoe Bend on Wednesday on 33 counts of social hosting, furnishing alcohol to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence said Rorie hosted a party on or about Dec. 11 for several Melbourne High School students, all under the age of 18.
One of the students interviewed by sheriff's investigators said he "did not remember much about the party because he passed out early," the sheriff said.
Of the 11 students who attended the party, some reportedly said Rorie furnished the alcohol while others told investigators some of the teens brought booze to her home.
Nine of the students spent the entire night at Rorie's house, Lawrence said.
"The students all said that Rorie told them not to tell anyone about the event," he added.
Lawrence said the Melbourne School administration brought the allegations to his department and assisted in the investigation.
After she was confronted with the allegations, Rorie left the school and is no longer employed by the district.
Following her arrest on Jan. 13, Rorie post a $2,500 bond and was released from the Izard County Detention Center. She is scheduled to appear in court on March 2.
