BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

A man is in jail accused of stabbing another man following a fight in late December.

Captain Scott Adams of the Blytheville Police Department states the investigation began on Dec. 28, 2015 when officers were called to a hospital for someone who had been stabbed.

Adams said officers spoke with a man who said Marcos Hinojosa, 34, had been arguing as they were riding in a vehicle.

As the two continued to argue, Hinojosa reportedly hit the victim in the face and driver pulled over.

The two, according to the victim, fought outside the vehicle and at some point the man was stabbed by Hinojosa in the arm with a knife. The man was taken to the hospital where he had to have surgery to stop the bleeding, Adams said. Hinojosa ran from the scene of the fight.

Police interviewed witnesses inside the vehicle who saw the fight and stabbing.

A warrant was issued for Hinojosa's arrest on Jan. 4. Three days later Hinojosa was arrested in Dunklin County, MO on that warrant.

He was taken to the Blytheville Police Department for Wednesday questioning. According to Adams, Hinojosa was read his rights and then denied all of the allegations against him while speaking with investigators.

Hinojosa was arraigned on Thursday and is being charged with domestic battery. Bond was set at $25,000 cash only.

Hinojosa will appear in court again on Feb. 25.
