Blytheville School District granted School Choice

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Blytheville School District will be participating in School Choice according to Superintendent Richard Atwill.

The district has been battling the chance to participate for some time now.

According to Atwill, the state recently granted a waiver that will finally allow the district to be a part of School Choice.

Blytheville Schools submitted a desegregation order they were under back in the 70s, which was keeping them from participating.

The 2015 amended School Choice law required schools to submit any desegregation order they have been under.

The new wavier helps clear the district of any confusion on whether they can participate in School Choice.

Atwill said they are excited to finally have this opportunity.
