Paragould Fire Department gets new trucks

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -

The Paragould Fire Department recently got two new fire trucks.

The trucks are 2015 models with a four-door cab, which gives the crew more room.

“It affords us more room," Fire Chief Kevin Lang said. "Firefighters can ride in the back or it can be used for rehab if it is very hot or very cold. They can get in there and warm up or cool down."

The trucks are replacing two of the department’s older trucks, a 1978 and 1980 model.

“The newest truck prior to that is a 2007, so again having two new 2015 models replacing a '78 and '80 is a pretty big step,” Lang said.

The trucks also include a new feature for the department. The feature is a compressed air foam system.

Lang said his department will be trained on this new system in the next week.

The trucks were purchased with reserve funds for the department.

Lang thanks the Paragould mayor and city council for helping them get the new trucks.
