Paragould man faces assault and battery charges after alleged fight

GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A Paragould man is behind bars on aggravated assault and battery charges stemming from an alleged fight with another man.

According to documents from the District Court of Greene County, Harley Owens was in a vehicle parked outside of Ivey Herren, Jr.'s home on Saturday, Jan. 9.

Owens said Herren came out of his home holding an AK-47 gun, walked up to the car Owens was in and pointed it at his head.

Owens said Herren then punched him in the head.

After a struggle, the fight moved outside the vehicle where Owens said Herren kicked him several times in the head.

According to the court documents, an eyewitness said Herren told Owens to beg for his life.

During an interview, it was noted Owens had visible injuries including a black eye and a bruise across the bridge of his nose.

Herren's bond is set at $100,000. He is expected in court on Feb. 26.
