POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) -

3:34 p.m.

Black River Technical College on their Facebook page confirmed the cause of the active shooter alert was the sound of popping balloons. They thanked authorities for their rapid response.


3:17 p.m.

BRTC President Dr. Eric A. Turner has now given the ALL-CLEAR.


3:11 p.m.

BRTC Vice President Karen Liebhaber says the school is still on lockdown. Not a drill.


3:01 p.m.

Craig Rickert reports that an "all clear" has been given at the BRTC campus.

Randolph Co. Judge David Jansen was scheduled for a meeting on BRTC campus at 3. As of 3:05 p.m. says "everything is good here."


2:56 p.m.

BRTC in Pocahontas on Facebook reports active shooter on campus:

SWAT team has entered the building, according to Craig Rickert who is on scene.

They have not encountered any injuries at this time.


Heavy police presence reported at Black River Technical College in Pocahontas. Region 8 News has a crew on the way.
