JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - First Community Bank celebrated the construction of its Southwest Drive location in Jonesboro with a beam signing ceremony.
Directors, staff and customers of First Community Bank met at 630 Southwest Drive at 11 a.m. on Friday.
Chairman and CEO Dale Cole asked everyone to sign the beam that would be lifted into place on the new building that will be Jonesboro's main headquarters for the bank.
Cole said this building will become a cornerstone in the community.
"First Community Bank has made a huge investment in the Jonesboro area because we believe in this community," Cole said. "We also believe in the great team of bankers who once worked for Mr. Wallace Fowler at Liberty Bank of Arkansas. Allen Williams now leads our First Community Bank team and serves as our Jonesboro Community President. I have a lot of faith in Allen, and I know he understands community banking because he learned from the master, Wallace Fowler."
First Community Bank first entered Jonesboro in 2008 with a mortgage loan center, according to Cole.
The bank opened a full-service branch at 1617 S. Caraway Road in Jonesboro on Jan. 27, 2014.
"We were looking for a community banking model that would be similar to what we enjoyed at Liberty Bank prior to its sale," Williams said. "We understood the importance of relationship banking, so it was important to continue that tradition."
The Southwest Drive location will give the bank three full-service centers after opening a branch in Bay on Aug. 17, 2015.
