"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
After 14 Years of marching peacefully in the great city of Jonesboro in hopes of diminishing racial division, hatred towards our neighbors, unifying our communities, educating youth, and promoting equality for all people, it is NOW time for us see this change take form.
With this year's theme, "The Courage to Love," we are extremely confident that this is something that each and every one of us, young and old, can be of great service in our day-to-day to help create and provoke through necessary action.
In the famous words of Dr. King, "We have not started living until we can rise above the narrow confines of our individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity."
We have to make the "Decision to stick with love, for hate is too great a burden to bear….Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend….Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
Black Lives Matter.
All Lives Matter.
A Better Me.
A Better You.
A Better WE.
I leave you with one final quote from Dr. King, "The time is always right to do what is right."
Let us all be that catalyst for change and accept and love one another to make this A Better Region 8.
