Jonesboro alderman resigns from post after more than 15 years

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro Alderman Tim McCall announced his resignation from the council Tuesday night during the regularly scheduled Jonesboro City Council meeting.

"It's been a pleasure to serve the past 15 to 16 years on Jonesboro City Council," McCall said. "My family is in the slow process of moving homes and I will not be residing in my ward."

Arkansas law states that a council member must live within the ward they represent.

"The past many years have given me the opportunity not only to meet but assist with a lot of wonderful people," McCall said.

McCall had three years left of his term as alderman.

No word yet on whether he will be replaced through special election or an appointment.
