POPLAR BLUFF, MO - Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff is suing Southeast Missouri State University, claiming the Cape Girardeau school is wrongly using state scholarship money.

Three Rivers says 24 students at Southeast Missouri State are using the state's A-Plus scholarship program.  But community college officials say that money was never meant to pay for students attending 4-year colleges.

Three Rivers is asking for the court to order Southeast to pay back the scholarship money.

Southeast officials have declined to comment on the lawsuit, which also charges the university with breaching contracts and other agreements.

The legal fight comes after Southeast Missouri State banned Three Rivers from teaching courses at three higher education centers beginning this summer.
