Local weightlifters organize superhero charity cancer lift-off

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Local weightlifters are getting together for the Superhero Lift-off for Cancer that will be held at Jonesboro High School Saturday, Feb. 20, at 10 a.m.

Each weightlifter is working hard on getting sponsors to help raise more money.

Everyone will be dressed as their favorite super hero.

All proceeds will go to Relay for Life.

The group came up with the idea through Facebook.

"Somebody posted a silly video of a guy in a...what was it? A Power Ranger suit doing some exercises and we were all just bantering around about it and said, 'Hey, that would be fun and if I can dress up like a superhero I'd love to do it,' so we decided to put on this event," weightlifter Jeff Pagan said.

Pagan will be dressed as Spider-Man.

Greg Allen, who will dress as the Hulk, is excited for this event.

"Raising money for cancer is a lot more fulfilling than lifting 700 pounds that's for sure," Allen said.

The group has a Facebook page with more information. The group name is Super Hero Lift-off Jonesboro.
