A-State new RB Coach Smith to accept job at Purdue

A-State new RB Coach Smith to accept job at Purdue

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - It seems for the second time this off-season, Head Coach Blake Anderson has had one of his new hires poached within a short time after hiring them.

According to a press release from the Purdue Athletics department, running backs coach DeAndre Smith has accepted the same position with the Boilermakers. Smith was hired less than a month ago to replace Anthony Tucker, who left A-State for Maryland.

Smith follows offensive line coach Darren Hiller in departing Arkansas State after less than a month on the job. Hiller left Arkansas State for a position elsewhere after just four days on the job.

The Red Wolves have had three openings this off-season. Anderson hired Middle Tennessee's Buster Faulkner as offensive coordinator to replace Walt Bell, along with the offensive line coach and running backs coach positions.
