JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A dog and her owner were reunited after a burglary left them separated Tuesday afternoon.

According to a Jonesboro police report, officers were called to Rees Road in reference to a burglary.

Lauren Layman told police she came home to find someone had entered her home and stolen several items of clothing.

According to the report, a neighbor said she saw a white man and woman, both with dark hair, exit the apartment around 7:30 a.m.

She said they drove a light green Nissan car.

Another very important thing was missing from Layman’s apartment also: her dog, Girl.

The black husky mix got out of the apartment when the thieves got in.

The two were reunited Tuesday night.

According to a post on the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society’s Facebook page, a man brought the dog to the shelter until Layman could be contacted.

Police have not made any arrests in this case.
