House Holds Moment of Silence for Boozman

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas House held a moment of silence this afternoon in recognition of Arkansas Department of Health Director Fay Boozman, who died over the weekend in a farm accident.

Boozman was killed Saturday when a steel wall on a row of barn stalls buckled and fell on him.  The House joined the Senate in passing a special memorial resolution to honor Boozman.

Representative Jeremy Hutchinson, a Little Rock Republican, spoke to House members about his family's long relationship with the Boozman family.  Hutchinson, the son of former U.S. Senator Tim Hutchinson, recalled a 1996 car accident involving his twin brother and Boozman.  Hutchinson recalled how Boozman, who was seriously injured, tended to his brother until rescue workers arrived.

Hutchinson's brother, Representative Timothy Hutchinson, a Lowell Republican, wiped away tears as his brother spoke.  Hutchinson was held at fault for the accident, which killed a couple from Texas.
