School employees selflessly give back to their community

Blytheville School District employees made a difference in their community after participating in a campaign.

Teachers, janitors and administration staff have raised over $3,000 for the United Way of Greater Blytheville.

Funds will be disbursed to several nonprofit organizations based on their needs.

The school district’s public relations director, David Cooke, said he is proud of everyone who participated.

“The economy may not be so good, although I think it is getting a little better,” Cooke said. “But, the district employees still contribute to the United Way. They are making a difference every day.”

The employees voluntarily chose to deduct money from their paychecks.

Food pantries, the Red Cross, and charitable nonprofit groups are just a  few of many organizations that will benefit from the money raised.
