House burst into flames, brush fire to blame

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - What started out as a brush fire, minutes later destroyed a house in Paragould.

Greene County Fire officials responded to an afternoon house fire in the 1900-block of Highway 351 south of Crowley's Ridge Raceway.

Brookland Fire Department and Western Greene County Fire Department assisted in putting out the blaze.

Jim Holland with the Southern Greene County Fire Department said the fire caused significant damaged to the home, leaving 2 bedrooms caved in.

The owner of the house tells Region 8 News that his neighbor started the fire.

The man was in the house at the time of the fire but was not injured.

He said he smelt smoke, grabbed his dogs and immediately ran out the door.

Holland said although the ground is wet, it is not a good time to burn because of high winds.
