PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -

The Paragould Police Department will be riding the rails this week.

Officers will be looking for drivers who violate railroad-crossing laws.

Those inside the locomotive will radio officers in patrol cars when motorists ignore railroad signals and warnings.

Officers on the ground, according to an email from Jeffrey A. Degraff with Union Pacific Railroad, will then issue citations.

They will be looking for more than just cars and trucks.

Officers will also be on the lookout for pedestrians crossing or walking on the tracks.
