JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A special election will be held in May to fill a vacant Jonesboro city council seat.
In a meeting Tuesday, the city council voted unanimously to hold a special election to fill the vacant position for Ward 6 Position 1.
At the previous council meeting, Alderman Tim McCall announced his resignation.
McCall explained that after serving nearly 16 years on the council, he was moving out of his ward.
The special election, that will cost roughly $20,000, takes place May 10.
The deadline for candidates to file is March 11. If necessary, a run-off election will take place on June 7.
